PLEADING THE 13TH

IT IS TIME FOR EACH FREEDOM-LOVING AMERICAN TO PLEAD THE 13TH AMENDMENT AND REFUSE TO DO WHATEVER THE GOVERNMENT MANDATES HIM OR HER TO DO (E.G., PURCHASE HEALTH INSURANCE) "ON THE GROUNDS IT WILL TEND TO ENSLAVE ME".

I'D RATHER A TENT IN THE DESERT THAN A CASTLE IN HELL.

  1. I am opposed to to idea of forcing anything on a responsible person because responsible people in general do not impose upon or leach off of society.

However I have become more tolerant of the idea of government forcing others to behave more responsibly within our society, especially when their irresponsibility impacts others.

If we are going to continue to treat hospital care as a socioeconomic responsibility, then we must find a way to force everyone who wishes to use the system to participate in supporting it in one way or another. There are no easy solutions to this problem.

This is just another case of the government treating the symptom and not the cause, but not unlike choosing a political candidate, we have become accustomed to choosing not the best possible option, but settling for the lesser of two evils.
